The Brill Building Legends Show celebrates the songs of Neil Sedaka, Carole King, and Connie Francis, whose careers were strongly linked. The songs are faithfully performed by Jay Asher, JK Jones and Lauren Lundeen with a supporting cast of excellent guest singers and musicians. Audiences have simply loved this show when it has been performed!

Neil Sedaka (performed by Jay Asher) was one of the first massively successful singer-songwriters, as well as an amazing pianist. He sold millions of records from 1959-1964, when the British Invasion temporarily halted his parade of hits in the United States, although he continued to have success in the United Kingdom. Then with the help of his fan Elton John, he returned to his hitmaker status in the early ’70’s in a big way. Carole King (performed by JK Jones) is of course a legendary songwriter who co-wrote tons of hits in the same era, and whose singing career took off in the early ’70’s with the phenomenally successful album “Tapestry.” She and Neil grew up together, briefly dated, and remained lifelong friends. Neil’s first big hit “Oh, Carol” was inspired by her.

Until Madonna came along, Connie Francis (performed by Lauren Lundeen) sold more records than any other female singer in pop music history, an estimated 200 million records!. She recorded several songs written by Neil and his lyricist Howard Greenfield that became hits and her recording of their song” Stupid Cupid” was their first big hit.

As Neil and Howard wrote, “Come-a-come-a down, doo-bee-doo-down-down.”

Jay Asher (Neil Sedaka, Musical Director) has faithfully performed as Elton John, Bobby Darin, Tom Jones, Neil Diamond, and now Neil Sedaka, his original singer-songwriter-pianist role model, for years in shows in the greater Los Angeles area. He is a singer-songwriter, media composer, arranger, and musical director, who has written songs that have been recorded by Julio Iglesias, Whitney Houston, Stephanie Mills, and Donna Summer, among others. He has also composed scores and songs for TV series, TV Movies of the Week, and films, most notably New World Television’s “Zorro”. Website:https://jayasher.com/. YouTube: @jayashermusic1.

JK Jones is a talented singer-songwriter-guitarist who has just released her first album entitled “Past Lives”. She has also become very well known for her faithful and beautiful Joni Mitchell renditions, performing them and her original songs around LA at various venues including The Canyon Club, Molly Malone’s, The Lost Chord, Tarzana Community and Cultural Center Singer-Songwriter Night, Cinema Bar, Kulak’s Woodshed, The Fret House, Backdoor Bakery, The A-Frame, and others. You can find her on YouTube @JKJonesmusic.com and her website https://jkjonesmusic.com/ But at Jay’s request, she has also embraced the challenge of performing Carole King’s songs and trust us, she knocks it out of the park!

Lauren Lundeen is an up and coming young singer-songwriter, now working on her first album with her partner Jonathan Dale. Over a number of shows with this troupe, she has demonstrated an absolutely remarkable ability for one so young to embrace previous generations of performers, like Carly Simon and now Connie Francis, and sing their songs so faithfully that we are certain they would smile and applaud.
