Saturday August 15 at 7pm
Beat the August heat with an evening of music, laughs and gloriously unpredictable theatrical mischief.
Apperheny Hall presents Hot August Jive, a spirited variety show packed with live music, comedy, memorable characters and a few surprises waiting just offstage.
Produced by Steve Apperson, the evening features Karesa McElheny, Nick Jay, Rick Ray, William Lenaburg, Emma Hamilton and Sheri Garwood.
The Apperheny Hall crew will appear in the guises of the infamous Dr. Blues, cult favorite Miles Better and the blissfully oblivious Nancy Thrillson, with the whole unruly affair hosted by the intrepid Shirli Yunome.
Expect an anything-can-happen night filled with songs, comic turns, surprise guests and the warm, wonderfully offbeat energy of performers who know how to work a room. At NAMBA, you are close enough to catch every expression, every punchline and every unexpected twist. No distant stage, no giant screen, no need to consult maritime navigation equipment to locate the performers.
And this show has an encore that matters: all proceeds from Hot August Jive benefit NAMBA Performing Arts Center. Your ticket helps sustain intimate live performance, adventurous programming and a creative gathering place for Ventura’s community.
Come for the music. Stay for the laughs. Help keep independent performance thriving in Ventura.
