This special tribute concert honors one of Broadway’s most beloved composer-lyricists, whose music helped define the golden glow of the American musical. From the show-stopping optimism of Hello, Dolly! to the irresistible spirit of Mame, the bold humanity of La Cage aux Folles, and the lush theatrical sweep of Mack and Mabel, Jerry Herman gave audiences melodies with lift, lyrics with heart, and characters who refused to dim their own light.
And yes, for Herman fans who know: Mack and Mabel was his personal favorite score.
Ryan Beaghler returns to NAMBA with a powerful performance of “I Am What I Am” from La Cage aux Folles, bringing one of Herman’s most iconic anthems to life in an intimate concert setting.
