“La Fiesta Jarocha En California” performed by Nematatlín, a music group from the University of Veracruz, was founded in 1980 to maintain, preserve and promote Jarocho. Jarocho is a favorite music tempo, taken from the ancient fandango dance of the Sotavento region (State of Veracruz) and performed during festivities, national and international cultural events. It is a representative category of music that conveys the image of the state of Veracruz.
Having accompanied the folk dance groups at the port of Veracruz, Nematatlín plays a variety of traditional music with flexible interpretive ability – a hallmark of the band’s reputation. Band members are both stage artists and teachers who help students experiment and elevate jarocho music.
Nematatlín has performed throughout Mexico and other countries such as Japan, France, Spain, Great Britain, Italy, Cuba, Puerto Rico, El Salvador, Honduras, Venezuela, Argentina and the United States. In addition, the group has recorded three albums and performed innumerable interpretations on radio, national and global television channels.
It will be an unforgettable night of traditional and improvisational music at Namba!
