Namba presents a Sunday Jazz Matinee with Hans Ottsen, Sean Riddle and Tyler Hammond
“Ottsen, Riddle & Hammond” are a trio of Ventura county musicians united by a love for jazz, improvisation, and odd rhythms. We explore repertoire ranging from standards of old, standards of new, original compositions, and the occasional modern day pop tune, all through a modern lens. Featuring Hans Ottsen on guitar, Sean Riddle on bass, and Tyler Hammond on drums.
Hans Ottsen has played and studied music since birth. His mother, Linda Ottsen, soprano, sang with Leonard Bernstein & Aaron Copland, performing at Kennedy Center in the months before Hans was born. After studying classical piano until his mid-teens, he began playing guitar & pursued his formal education at the University of Southern California.
Tyler Hammond is a southern California based Jazz drummer Who draws much of his inspiration and attitude from skateboarding. Having played with local legends and such musical greats as Lady Gaga and Fred Durst, he aims to breath new life into the music he plays!
Sean Riddle is an up and coming bassist, composer, and improviser in the Southern California creative music scene. His work draws influence from the realms of Jazz, the music of West Africa, traditional Balkan music, Rock, Metal, Free Improvisation, and New Music to create music that eviscerates the boundaries of composition and improvisation. He holds a BFA in Jazz Bass Performance and a minor in Social Sciences from California Institute of the Arts.
